This site is for my eBook I’m writing for musicians/bands to help increase their chances of success in a very competitive industry. Amazon’s MP3 download page for “Alternative Rock” has 1, 483,016 songs listed in it. Each and every one of those songs has someone trying to get people’s attention. An ominous task at the very least to get into the top 50%. That leaves you with 741,508 to compete for people’s dollar. My point is, earning a living being a musician/band in this version of the music business is not an easy task.

There is a way to make a living with your Music !

HOWEVER, it takes a lot of discipline, patience and the ability to stick to a strategic plan.  These are traits that many musicians have removed from their DNA. Believe me when I tell you that getting a band to stick to a game plan for any period of time is nearly impossible. There’s always an issue that arises that turns what was once a good course of action into a “we need to (fill in the blank)”. I say this because I’ve had more than one experience that turned out less than expected simply because it was “too much work” for the band.

What makes me an “expert” on this topic ?

  I have my name on over 16 million records and counting. I’ve performed with Heart, Alice In Chains (unplugged) and worked on a lot of records (Deftones, Limp Bizkit, Dredg, Queensryche, Buckcherry, to name a few). You can see my full list of album credits here.

  I also have a small record label (Jibe Records) which is what motivated me to write this book. I’ve worked on records for many labels, but having my own has given me a different perspective than I had prior. The benefit being I’ve been on all sides of business. A musician, a producer/engineer, AND the label.

  I’m hoping some of you take advantage of my many years of doing this. There are many people writing books on this topic so, as with music, there are many perspectives on how to go about it. I have tried and failed, learned from those experiences and had a hell of a lot of fun doing it. I don’t think you’ll find lot of people writing about this topic with my level of experience.
